3DPM detecting small particles in the undersize feed after a rollerscreen
3DPM is measuring the particle size distribution and detecting the "oversize" particles in the undersize feed after a roller screen in a Swedish Iron Ore plant. Measuring small particles on high speed belts, in the presence of a large amount of fines, is a significant challenge, but it is exactly what 3DPM has been designed to do.
3DPM measures the entire width of the feed to calculate bulk volume and size the individual particles overcoming the numerous limitations of photo based analysis.
In this case, 3DPM is highlighting the larger particles, specifically to identify any over 8mm to indicate wear or failure of the roller screen.
In the zoomed-in particle images the large particle is 26.5mm and the smaller highlighted particles are all well below 8mm. 3DPM detects the areas of fine agglomerates without mistaking them for individual particles, giving the customer data they can trust for control.
3DPM® is a world leading vision system for online particle size distribution measurement developed by Optimation Advanced Measurements in cooperation with Australian company Innovative Machine Vision (IMV).
3DPM uses high speed 3D profile measurement based on laser triangulation encapsulated in a robust protective housing to ensure seamless, low maintenance operation in harsh industrial environments. At the core of 3DPM are the advanced algorithms for particle delineation, classification and sizing ensuring stable reliable measurement suitable for automatic control.
