Development for commercialisation of CSIRO's CGA microscopy analysis software
Graham O’Brien – Principal Technologist CSIRO Energy
CSIRO has developed an optical reflected light microscopy system, Coal Grain Analysis (CGA), which collects and mosaics high resolution images of particles grains for evaluation and optimization of mining and industrial processes. However, the impediment to commercializing CGA has been the need for extensive manual editing of the image segmentation.
Innovative Machine Vision and Principal Scientist Matthew Thurley worked seamlessly with CSIRO staff and developed advanced algorithms to automate the bulk of this editing thus enabling commercialization of CGA. I strongly recommend IMV as experts in image segmentation and processing, and as team players sharing their knowledge for the benefit of our product. Furthermore, I have identified further projects where we plan to use their services again.
